Colposcopy is a procedure used to assess women with abnormal Pap
smears and also for the diagnosis of problems of the lower genital
tract, specifically the vulva, vagina and peri-anal area. It is
performed by gynecologists with specific training and incorporates
a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment. Registered
nurses provide individual patient education and support.
A state-of-the-art computerized system (GOCIS) is used for charting,
follow-up and recording of all results. It ensures standardization,
enhances quality control and patient safety and enables prompt communication
of results with the referring physician.
