Thoracic Surgery

Welcome to the Department of Surgery, Division of Thoracic Surgery. 

Since the inception of Thoracic Surgery here at The Ottawa Hospital in the 1960's our goal has been set up to provide a high standard of  "thoracic surgical health care" for patients with serious diseases in the chest.

We have found that this depends upon a good liaison between a thoracic surgical team, the nursing team and the multi-disciplinary team of specialists.

Today the Division of Thoracic Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital and its  multi-disciplinary team looks after the vast majority of patients in Eastern Ontario. The Division of Thoracic Surgery is recognized nationally for its strong Residency Training Program in Thoracic Surgery which is very closely linked with the Cardiac Surgery Training Program at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

The Division of Thoracic Surgery is recognized internationally for excellent patient care with referrals coming, not only from other Provinces and Territories in Canada, but also from the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
